Complete guide: How.to.make.x264.movie.from.DVD

Everyone can do this at home :-)

So finally I made myself to finish complete tutorial for some kind of backup of DVD. Some people know it as DVDrip, some as DVDencode, but who cares - important is that you know what is going on here. But today it will not be XVID (or DIVX) and MP3, but x264(h264, AVC) with AAC. Beside this, the final size of file will probably NOT BE 700(1400)MB. File size is not longer so much dependent on CD(DVD).
Every part of this tutorial was few times updated, now it should be DONE and i will probably not change anything. Of course you can find better solution or better programs etc., it depends on you - this is not the only one way to do it, but I can recommend it.
Im sorry for some screenshots in czech. I hope it will be not a problem. And all screenshots are captured with older versions of programs, so it could be a little different on your computer with new versions.

*Note : to avoid some misunderstanding about x264/h264 :
H.264, also known as MPEG-4 Part 10, or AVC, for Advanced Video Coding, is a digital video codec standard which is noted for achieving very high data compression.
x264 is an open source codec that complies with the H.264 standard. It can be used both for encoding videos into H.264 and for playing back (decoding) H.264 videos.
I will use x264/h264 as I feel it should be used (in text), but dobt be angry if I use x264 instead h264 etc. :-) We all are just people...

Why.we.are.doing.this...

I will just link my test: comparsion XVID vs x264.

...and.what.we.will.need

I was lucky (or unlucky), and I had some kind of protection on my test DVD. DVDdecrypter, DVDshrink and AnyDVD was UNABLE to work with this, so I took another tool. DVDfab HD decrypter. You need just FREE version of this, so it is without problems.
You will need also AviSynth, MeGui and SubRip for subtitles.
Install all of them and upgrade to the last versions. Sometimes you can upgrade x264.exe manually from this site: x264.exe, there can be newer version than in MeGui. Just overwrite original file in c:\program files\megui\tools\x264\.
For encoding audio to ND AAC, download Nero Digital Audio Decoder/Encoder, I think you should - it is a big difference between this and MP3. Unpack files to this folder: c:\program files\megui\.

If you are ready, lets start :-)
